The Survivor S/N 718066
This surviving PPHC race car was first purchased by Bobby in 1961 s/n 718066, was the Porsche RS-61 Spyder. He took additional class wins at the Pikes Peak Hill Climb in 1961 and 1962. The car wore car number 19 in 1961 with a time of 14:35.5 and car number 17 in 1962 with a time of 14:23.3 setting a new class record. He also raced it to a seventh place finish at Sebring in 1961.
Bobby moved on to other cars and the car was sold to Don Wester who raced it for many years on the west coast. Some time in the 1990s the car was fully restored to as new condition. ( Wish it was restored to as raced ) With the cars history and it being one of the most charismatic racing Porsche body styles ever, plus a limited production run, it was an easy seller at auction.
Rm Auctions in 2014 sold the Porsche RS-61 Spyder S/N 718066. Final price with fees, $275,000
